Uruguayan government asks open-source blockchain platform to solve regional challenges

The open-source blockchain platform, Aeternity, was recently asked by the Uruguayan government and Universidad ORT Uruguay to prove real-world applications of the blockchain technology by solving seven challenges.

According to the LatAmlist report, the open-source blockchain platform has been asked to solve challenges put forward by the Uruguayan government of Ministry of Agriculture, duty-free zone, Zonamerica, the newspaper, El Observador, and AGESIC, the government agency for the electronic government of Uruguay.

The seven real-world challenges proposed by the Uruguayan government include tracing the chain of production of sustainable vegetables, helping people who are adopted trace their origins using the blockchain tech. Enable any sports team or a soccer club to have its own cryptocurrency as well as digital trading card season, all implemented with blockchain to ensure security and scalability. The other challenges include logistics, Agro, and media, and create transparency between consumers, manufacturers, and producers.

The challenges put forward by the government are ambitious, but blockchain technology has the potential to solve these problems.
